We have had an amazing week with cycling on Rasaay aand a walk around Quiraing a particular favourite. We enjoyed Old Inn Carbost & Stein Inn for food. Coral Beach.

June 2023 – Daniel, Hollie & Maia – Cambridgeshire – We stayed here 7 years ago & coming back we could think of nowhere else we would rather stay & this time with a 6 month old. Perfectly situated you can easily get to all the amazing highlights on Skye and more! One of the highlights this time was spending time at the beach 5 mins away. ( If you want to avoid the crowds & have a beach to yourselves ). Thanks again for the wonderful stay!

June 2023 – Debbie, Tip, Mollie 🐕 – Ascot – Such a beautiful cottage, stunning views and a peaceful setting.  Thank you for lending us your home for a week. We had a fabulous holiday and take away great memories and photographs.

June/July 2023 – Bill, Maryon, Robin – Texas – What a lovely cottage! The rooms were cosy & the kitchen easy to work in. I’m sure the living area was wonderful too, but we spent most of our time in the Sunroom. Watching the birds in the garden 💓. The walk along the beach and the high bench down the road were fun to experience. There is always something beautiful to see here! I hope we come back sooner rather than later. Thank you Dawn 💓.

N your  2023 – Colette & Andrew – Kinross – A beautiful cottage – the perfect base for exploring the wonders of Skye. We loved watching the Seals, birds & Otters from the Sunroom. Highlights of our trip were watching the Dolphins at Neist Point, Golden Eagles at Sleat. Walking Old Man of Storr and  Fairy Pools. A wonderful trip  – we will definitely return!

Enjoyed walking along the Loch to Sligachan Inn for lunch – a bit steep & narrow  but worth it for seeing  Porpoises, Sea Eagles & Seals! July 2021 – Fergal, Caroline Aoife, Amelie & Harris dog – Edinburgh – A fantastic cottage in a great location. We saw lots of wonderful things on Skye. But also really enjoyed sitting in the sunroom watching the local birds and the Seals basking below. Thanks so much for the welcome, the usual tips and the eggs. We would loved to stay longer! Would recommend very highly!

August 2021 – Shaun & Lisa, (Ghyll & Loch 🐶🐶) – Doncaster – Well what can we say our 15th year visiting Skye. Having stayed in several cottages around the island but this is our 1st stay in Kirstys cottage and I  have to say the best! Warm, friendly, well equipped and an absolutely stunning view. Warm welcome from the owners and a 🍾 for our 15th wedding anniversary 😀. Fabulous walking from the door. Visited Rasaay, Oronsay, and walked some of our favourites Storr, Sligachan, Coral beach and the Scorrybreach circuit where we scattered our old Border Collies ashes as she had many happy days running free there. We have seen all seasons of weather. Loved sitting in the sunroom part of the cottage. All in all we have had a tremendous week here and will definitely be back again x. Thank you Dawn & Andrew for a fabulous week, we will definitely be back! Very sad to be leaving.

August 2021 – Rachel & Ric – A long awaited post -Covid stay in a cherished cottage with our Skye family! Have been visiting for 17 years now and I am looking forward to our next trip up already! This year saw a much moodier Skye which made the roaring fire and cosy cottage even more welcoming after a long and sometimes wet walk. August 2020 – Siobháin, Andrew, Rowan, Sandy (Ronnie Dotty pooches) –  North Yorkshire Skye has been all round wonderful – Minky Whale, Sea Eagle, Jellyfish, Seals, you name it. The experience made all the better for staying here in your fantastic cottage. It’s faultless! This kitchen has pan fried Mackerel caught just down at the water here. Smashing! Thanks so much for being so helpful & accommodating.

September 2020 – Sylv & Pete and Daisy dog – Derbyshire – Thank you Dawn & Andy  for letting us stay in your beautiful home. What a real gem of place you have here. We felt totally at home and relaxed. Skye has so much to offer spectacular views around every corner. Dunvegan Castle gardens are well worth a visit. Searched for Dolphins and Whales – alas none found! We will have to come back and try again.

April/May 2019 – Tony & Pam Mills (Bella & Amy dogs) – We have been coming to Skye for 15 years but first time to this corner. Beautiful views from a lovely cottage. We had really good weather which was a bonus and made it a very enjoyable holiday.

Enjoyed the stay,the views,the 20+ Seals on the rocks, the Eagles and the other touristy bits.( Get there as early as you can and they are quiet! May 2019 – John, Joanne & dad (Basil dog) – Great week on Skye, beautiful views, enjoyed exploring every inch of the island! The museum of life a must for a visit. The isle of Raasay well worth a visit too. Also enjoyed Neist Point & Fairy Pools. The weather not too bad managed to avoid the showers. Beautiful cottage, well kept, cosy and clean. Thank you so much for having us. We would definitely return to this cottage if we come back to Skye.

May/June 2019 – Jan & John (Izzy & Storr dogs) – As ever the cottage has been an excellent place to stay. Dawn & Andrew are great hosts – nothing too difficult. The dogs had a great time playing with Archie. Weather has been pretty awful, day trip to Hebrides bit of a washout. Best day the trip to St Kilda. Must see island but take seasickness pills! June 2019 – Karen, Andy & Margaret – west Midlands – This is our 2nd visit to isle of Skye and Kirsty’s  cottage. After a particularly difficult start to the year after losing my lovely dad we have returned with my mum and she is happier and  more relaxed than she has been since dad passing.She thought Dawn was lovely and absolutely loves the cottage and the island! My husband and I are seriously thinking we may relocate here when he retires.

And thank you Dawn for the tip re: the Tasmanian Pipe band in Portree ! Can’t wait to come back.

Wonderful blue skies for most of the week gave us opportunities to visit our favourite places, without all the crowds of Summer. The walk uo to  Ben Tianavaig gave magical views we’ve never seen before. Thank you Dawn & Andrew for letting us stay in your amazing cottage, we couldn’t find fault with anything and will definitely be back for more Sea Eagle spotting! September 2018 — Gary & Lynn (Islay  Border Collie) – Had a great time on Skye explored lots of places. Ate out at some fab cafes. Walked on Rasaay really good views. Neist lighthouse very good. Weather was well behaved. Cottage well what can I say loved it loved it. Sat in Sunroom all the time, was superb. Thank you both.

October 2018 – Emma & Valerie (Jason & Vera Chihuahuas) – Where do we start! What a beautiful cottage, views are amazing. So perfectly placed to explore this beautiful Isle. Cottage has everything and is immaculate. So so clean and perfectly kept. Fairy Pools and Portree are fantastic although Neist Point, Coral beach & Quiraing are breathtaking! Worth the walk. Much as relaxing in the cottage on a chilly day( Sparrow Hawk made a visit) don’t underestimate it around the cottage! The walk Loch side is boggy but worth it. Couldn’t recommend it enough! Left you a picture as a thank you for the memories. Isle of Skye ice cream best in Skye. Learn to love the rain…..its all part of the magic. X

October 2018 – John & Fiona (Rory & Hamish Scotties) – Ayrshire – Lovely cottage and a great place to cosy up when the weather was wet and very windy! Skye as ever beautiful even in the rain. Unfortunately had to leave early but had a great stay. Thank you x

Middlebrooke family – August 2017 – Otley N Yorkshire – Just love it on Skye – with all its moods and weather. We were first here in 1999 on honeymoon when the cottage was basic – it is much more luxurious now, but just as romantic. Would recommend a trip to Rasaay if you really want to get away from it all, and you really don’t need to drive far to discover some hidden gems. Many thanks for a great week. Love the “new” cottage and all its charm.

Sue & Bob + Guido – September 2017 – Our week on Skye has gone too fast and we don’t want to leave! Kirsty’s Cottage is the best yet a cosy home from home and a delight to return to after a busy day touring the island. Thanks again Dawn for capturing Guido when he jumped the garden wall!! Rasaay was a gem; the Old Man of Storr was a slog but worth it; and the Fairy Pools a pleasant walk but worth it although parking was a problem. We had a lovely fish & chip supper on our last night at Edinbane Inn.

Angie & Rick – October 2017 – This was our 2nd trip to the lovely Isle of Skye, and although the weather wasn’t so good this trip, we still had a wonderful time seeing the sights we missed on our last visit. The cottage is really a “home from home” and so warm and cosy to return to in the evenings. Thanks Dawn for making is so comfortable.

January 2016 – Mick & Phoebe – Nottingham – Thank you for letting us stay in your fantastic cottage, we loved it. It is in a stunning location, we have stayed all over the west coast of Scotland over the past 17 years, this takes some beating! It has everything. There are some great places to eat in Portree, food at The Portree Hotel is excellent. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anybody. We will be back again, we love this place. February 2016 – Lucy & Paul – Nottingham – Had a perfect week in Skye. The cottage & its location were idyllic and provided the “home from home” feel that we had read about! March 2016 – Natty & Issy – Cumbria – Thank you Dawn & Andrew for letting us stay in your beautiful home, we have had a lovely week, wish it could be longer! Will be next time! Great to get to know you, see you again soon we hope. Thank you for letting us stay we have really enjoyed it. We saw lots of wildlife and the garden was cool too.

April 2016 – Cain family – Hemmel Hempstead – Our visit started with a 3 hour drive in a rental hire car from Inverness Airport. The time flew by as the scenery became more and more breathtaking. The cottage sits about 100 yards from the mouth of the Loch. and can be seen on the opposite side of the shore as you drive in. On arrival so relieved to find that the cottage felt like home from home. There were none of the damp corners, bad smells, tired nick nacks we had come to expect from our previous self catering experiences. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen ideal and the under floor heating ideal on cold days. Also the TV and DVD collection were an ideal way for our teenage family to relax in the evening after a long day out adventuring. Our children loved watching the Seals porpoising in the Loch below and the sheep as they grazed on the hill behind the cottage. Our favourite places to visit from the cottage were The Coral Beach, Fairy Pools and an evening drive along the B885 from Bracadale to Portree – the most beautiful moorland drive of our lives! For the adventurous the hills behind the cottage offer great views and a cardiovascular workout as well as discovering hidden pools and waterfalls. We would not think twice about coming again or recommending this wonderful place to our friends!

April 2016 – Ramsey family – Glasgow – My family (wife & 2 twenty something kids and a dog) recently enjoyed a wonderful week at Kirsty’s Cottage. It is very comfortable, more spacious than perhaps it appears from the pictures, well equipped and very good value. The views are spectacular particularly from The Sunroom where we ate all our meals watching the Raasay ferry going to and fro and the setting sun. The dog secure garden was also greatly appreciated. The location is good, being central for most of the islands many attractions and not far to drive to the excellent CO-OP  at Portree. We have fallen in love with Skye, if returning would certainly go back to Kirsty’s Cottage and would recommend it to others.

April 2016 – Susie & Norrie – Fife – A wee ditty – “15mins past the hour, The ferry comes and goes,15 birdies pass the hour Clinging by their toes. To peck the food that hangs in wait, Without a beg your pardon, Skye’s already looking great, And that’s just from the garden! Was much to saviour on the Isle, Weaving, pots & leather, Views to thrill mile on mile, And who’d have thought – THE WEATHER! But holidays are “make or break” By where you lay your head This “home from home” make no mistake Is everything you said. Last word goes to the LIGHT Not to make you sad though Last walk with the dogs at night Best ever – MOONSHADOW! May 2016 – Rumseys -Buckinghamshire – Whilst the boys were not able to make it to St Kilda due to bad weather – the Isle of Skye more than made up for their disappointment. Your lovely cottage has been a warm and comfortable place to come back to at the end of each busy day. Our highlights to name but a few:Misty Isle boat trip Loch Coruisk, Fairy Pools, Old Man of Storr, Talisker beach. Plus lots of galleries and places to have lunch- Ellishadder Art Cafe & Oyster Shed both excellent lunches. Thank you so much it has been a fantastic week and we go home with lovely memories.

May 2016 – David & Carol Reilly – East Lothian – What a beautiful cottage! Very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Thanks Dawn for the lovely pots of flowers. Skye is beyond description the weather has been amazing ( came with boots & jumpers!!) which we didn’t expect, what a blessing! Thank you both for allowing us to stay in your family home! May 2016 – Steve & Rachel Parkin – Cumbria – We have had a lovely week in your lovely cottage – comfortable – loved flowers, artwork, soft furnishings and the feel of the cottage. Mixed weather as to be expected but the could have stayed in as the cottage so comfortable & cosy. Saw sea otters round the bay, seals, gannets diving etc. Thanks a lot Dawn & Andrew

May 2016 – John & Tricia – Grange over Sands – Had a fantastic holiday here last week. It is an old croft house that has been thoroughly modernised to a high standard. Lovely views across the sea loch from all the windows. How often do you get to watch 12 Seals sunbathing from your lounge window? We are looking forward to going back next year.

June 2016 – Naomi & Harriet – Liverpool – We have had a wonderful time at Kirsty’s Cottage. This is our 3rd time on Skye and this has been by far the nicest place we have stayed. from the perfectly equipped kitchen to the relaxing sun room we have wanted for nothing Thank you for a perfect holiday base!This has been such a relaxing stay in a cottage that smells of Peaches!We’ve sunbathed in the comfortable suntrap and dined by candlelight in the sun room. Well furnished with practical equipment to clean, wash and cook and with comfortable luxurious space and furniture (love the amount of cushions!) The owners generosity in providing fire stacks and things like ice surpasses other cottage owners!! 1 question though who is Kirsty!? Thank you for a brilliant holiday Naomi & Harriet x – Kirsty is the original owner of the house when it was built in the early 1900’s.

June 2016 – Andrew & Maureen Barwick – Norfolk – We have enjoyed a great week in this peaceful location. The weather has been amazing and allowed us to Skye in all its glory. A lovely home to relax in. We will miss the views of seals and hills.

August 2016 – Looren de Jong family The Netherlands – We’ve had a great week! Totally “un-Scottish” weather and your beautiful cottage made our stay on this lovely island even better. August 2016 – Klaus S – We lived in the cottage for one week and it was just great. Beautiful house with everything you need. From each detail you can see that the owners do not only want to rent the house but make the stay there a great experience. The house is located in a beautiful environment with a direct view of the sea. Ferries passed from time to time giving the scene a special mood. Altogether, we enjoyed our holidays a lot and we are thinking to come next year.

August 2016 – Carl, Joanne, Edward & Tillie – Cheshire – This must be the 9th time we have visited this cottage as nowhere comes close! The recent refurbishment has nmade it even more comfortable – we particularly liked the under floor heating and real fire. This year we discovered The Oyster Shed at Tallisker which was amazing – will definitely be back!!!

We have had an amazing week, doing all tourist attractions but most of all going off track and discovering the hidden parts and treasures this island has to offer. A lovely week for our 29th wedding anniversary. Thank you.

September 2016 – David & Sheila Barnfarther & Fern English Springer Spaniel – Darlington – What a really comfortable cottage in such a glorious setting. A beautiful island. We have never experienced such heavy rain. we hope to return and will make sure we bring Skye proof waterproofs. A beautiful cottage with stunning view across the bay. Very clean and well appointed with ample space to enjoy a relaxing stay. Dog friendly with enclosed garden Owners very friendly, helpful but not intrusive. Spent many a happy hour in the sun room watching the seals and seabirds when the weather was to inclement to venture out. All in all a superb cottage and location which we would have no hesitation in using again if we return to Skye.

October 2016 – Derek & Jo Brewer – Our second visit to this wonderfully appointed cottage. The weather during the week was fantastic and sunrises from the garden extraordinary. For once red Skye in the morning didn’t mean it would pour with rain1 Walks from the cottage to Sligachan Inn and the nearby sandy beach were outstanding and Ullinish Point/Oronsay Island and Talisker bay are highly recommended. It is, of course, the accommodation that makes a holiday and this is a very special place. Thank you.

October 2016 – Angie & Rick Clear – This was our 1st trip to Skye, and we weren’t disappointed! The wonderful weather just added to the beauty of the island. We had lovely trips out each day, with the bonus of returning to a beautiful, cosy cottage each evening.  The islands scenery was even more breathtaking than we envisaged. we will definitely return!

October 2016 – Wilde family – Northumberland – A fantastic week in a lovely cottage. Probably the best equipped cottage we’ve stayed in. We loved the fire and the dvd collection, we even loved the one day of bad weather! 1st time on Skye and it’s been great highlights were:seeing loads of Dolphins on a boat trip from Portree, exploring The Fairy pools,kayaking in Uig bay & Cafe Arriba in Portee amazing views. Thanks for a great week!

Coral Beach is a pretty little walk. Portree good for a potter. Our favourite walk is An Aird Peninsula. We liked spotting Seals, eating ice cream and the great weather.

May 2015 – Louise, Andy & Enzo (Spinone) – Essex – We’re bowled over by Skye & it’s beauty. Would highly recommend it & the cottage to family/friends. Loved the views from garden room, spent our time in there and didn’t use the lounge! Can we recommend walk to Old Man of Storr & Quirang, but get there before 9am otherwise it’s like the M25! Pies from Glenview near Staffin are awesome. Coral Beach – wow. Waterfall from Glenbrittle House is short walk and worth it. Thanks for loaning your cottage out. We’ve loved it & everything about Skye, including the wind & rain ( oh and some sun). Shame it’s 13.5 hours from our house, otherwise we’d be back sooner.

Skye is the most breathtaking place I have been and Kirsty’s Cottage made it even better. Thank you for a wonderful comfy, home from home experience. Maybe back again one day with the Prosseco!!

July 2015 – Lisa, Matt, Cole & Skye – West Yorkshire – We wanted to bring our babies on holiday somewhere beautiful with dynamic scenery after spending time living with NZ before they came along. The holiday & cottage and scenery has truly delivered. We’ve loved staying here and you have been lovely hosts. we’ve had mixed weather but managed to visit Dinosaur Beach, Fairy Glen, Coral Beach, Neist Point, Armadale Hill, Fairy pools & Talisker Bay and our own local sandy beach! We’ve paddled, swam, seen Seals in the sea and a huge Rainbow too! We hope to return when the children can do more….

August 2015 – Jayne, Simon & Emma – Sheffield – Someone earlier wrote ” a beautiful home” – Very apt as staying here feels like home. A fantastic cottage on a fantastic location on a beautiful island. We’ve really enjoyed our stay and seen some of Skye, but you could spend a week here and forget the car! A walk around the beach was superb at low tide and we were blessed with Seals basking on the rocks. The Mary welsh walks book was invaluable. We did 3 good walks Coral Beach, Fairy Pools circuit, Quiraing circuit all with breathtaking scenery. The Isles pub in Portree highly recommended. Thanks Dawn & Andrew we hope to return.

August 2015 – Nico, Sally, Toby & Jean – Northants/Shropshire – We had a great stay thanks. The cottage is so comfy, homely, & well equipped. We saw an Otter 7 times from the Sun room – amazing! Would love to come back again one day.

October 2015 – Robson Family & dogs – We have had an amazing time here on Skye. The cottage is stunning and so well equipped. A perfect place to come home to after exploring beautiful Skye. It really has been a “home from home” for us such a wonderful place to relax and unwind and in such a lovely setting. (Even the Seals were basking on the rocks as predicted!) The boat trip from Portree to see the Sea Eagles was excellent and we finally saw Otters at Broadford Bay. October 2014 – Fitchett family – Cheshire – The last time I saw rain like that was in Anglesey when I was a kid! I forgot how much rainbows hurt, weather was irrelevant. Lots of rain, but we still got in a good amount of walks. Would recommend Old Man of Storr, and the one from the cottage to Sligachan hotel. Only 1 thing to add to the dwelling a pair of binoculars or telescope.

August 2009 The Housam Family Boston Lincolnshire – A most fantastic,welcoming,beautiful holiday experience for us all. We took our dog everywhere with us, how brilliant. Went snorkeling in the Loch. The cottage was our main focal point of the holiday. An open fire works wonders to enable 2 sisters to get on better! It was a real home from home and not just a holiday cottage. Wonderful. Think we need new tryres on the car but 14 hours was well worth the jurney to see Kylerhea,Glenelg Castle, Climbing Ben Lee, Uig, Trotternish area, Stein, and Portree.

August 2009 The Farrels Cheshire & Derbyshire – really loved our cosy cottage. a lovely home for a fortnight. Great walk up Benn Tianavaig, several Eagles spotted and nice stroll around the headlands to beach. Dunvegan Castle brilliant day out. 2 churches walk really interseting. You can’t fail to enjoy your stay.

September 2009 Chester, Ruth & Tim Australia & Glasgow – a lovely homely cottage – the warm fire on our arrival was just fantastic. Thank you Have had agreat time despite the weather. Attempted 3 Munroes but didn’t see final assault. Fishing for mackerel and pollock every night much to our sons delight – a keen angler back home. Thoroughly enjoyed our time.

September Clare & Pete Oldham – What a beautiful cottage with an amazing view. Saw seals from the window on the rocks sunbathing! the house was everything you could possibly want. We loved siiting by the open fire. Would definitely recommend a boat trip to Loch Coruisk. We also did the sea eagle boat trip out of Portree & saw 3 eagles. The weather was mixed including gale force winds, but the last few days we had lovely weather. Did walks to the Fairy Poools, and around the hills by Sligachan, always finishing with a pint in the hotel. We really don’t want to leave and will be back.

September 2009 Adam & Andy London – We were looking for isolation, relaxation, driving rain and a roaring fire to come home to. Skye gave us all this. Don’t change the cottage at all – it’s perfect.

October 2009 The Fitchett’s Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire – Another great holiday. Coral beach was great and the dog had a brilliant time with the others. Saw the seals in the mornings and the weather held out enough not to bother us at all. We’ll be back soon!
